SOLEIL beamtime is a GO

I recently got word that the SOLEIL beamtime for part of the experiment is reinstated. Originally we would use a combination of spatially-resolved X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray fluorescence (XRF) mapping techniques, to determine intra-annual variability of wood microfibril angle and elemental tracer concentrations on DiffAbs and LUCIA beamlines at both trunk and ring levels.

Due to COVID the manipulation part of the MCSA proposal could not be executed, however the measurements on historical wood cores can continue non the less. As such, measurements will be executed on the DiffAbs beamline only.

Measurements will also happen under a skeleton crew and with reduced capacity due to restrictions in terms of allowed personel at the beamline. However, it is good to see some of the measurements can still continue.
